BILL DURHAM: RETROSPECTIVE

Bill Durham: Retrospective will display a broad survey of the artists Bill Durham's (1937 - 2011) life work in painting- an oeuvre that explores several genres and approaches to the medium. Durham was a consummate explorer of his craft, beginning as an abstractionist from his early days in Michigan, introducing figuration and political messages in the 80‘s in New York, and arriving as a mature expressionist in his later canvasses painted in Amagansett. Accompanying the show are the artists sketchbooks and preparatory drawings that illuminate his creative sensibilities and process.

The exhibition will take place from June 10 - 23, at the historic Jackson Carriage House on the grounds of the Amagansett Historical Society at 129 Main Street (on the corner of Windmill Lane) and will be open from 12 - 6pm on Thursday - Monday, and by appointment.
