Please join us July 5 for the opening reception for artists Sophia Collier and Peter Dayton. 

Sophia Collier has developed a unique artistic practice and method of  production that extends the minimalist and Light and Space art traditions. Collier carves intricate rippled "water" surfaces from acrylic block using  a process combining   imagination, software and cutting edge technology to capture an effect of wind crossing water and the  light that results. 

"One day I was walking across a bridge and thought I wish I could reach down and pick up a piece of the water surface and keep it forever..."

  Peter Dayton creates panel paintings combining the glossy surfaces, colorful banding, and logos of surfboard design with the striped patterns of the painting of Kenneth Noland and Barnett Newman in a fun take on art history meets popular culture. For "Surf Shop", Peter Dayton assembles an ad hoc collection of his "surf boards", larger-than-life surfboard fins, and giant bars of wax to create a faux surf shop.

The show will run from July 5th through the 31st, with a reception on Friday, July 5th from 5 - 9pm.
